In 2008 we were camping in Deception Valley in the Central Kalahari, Botswana. After dinner we heard lions calling to each other, heading in our general direction. Since we were camped right on the road, we were pretty sure they would pay us a visit. Lions love walking the roads at night – they go for miles and miles.
Secure in our roof-tent, we watched as three beautiful females silently sauntered through our camp, sniffed our washing line, tents, chairs and table, and then like a trio of Cleopatras, disappeared elegantly and silently into the grass.
